Barnsley Chronicle: 30 April 2010

Filming for a new television police drama ‘DCI Banks’ started in Barnsley this week.

Barnsley Hospital and the Dil Raj Indian Restaurant in Dodworth were taken over by production teams on Wednesday with filming expected to finish tomorrow.

Wild at Heart and Ballykissangel star Stephen Tompkinson will play detective Inspector Alan Banks in the ITV show expected to be aired in Autumn. It tells the story of two young police constables who attend a domestic disturbance which leads to the identity of a serial killer being revealed.

The show, based on novels by crime writer Peter Rominson, is set in Leeds but features Barnsley in its two 60 minute pilots.

Sheffield Star: 09 May 2007 By Martin Dawes

MOHAMMED Rahman is on the blower pitching why I should visit his Dil Raj restaurant because everybody who’s anybody eats there.

“Darren Gough signed his contract (as skipper of Yorkshire) and came right down here to celebrate. We’ve had Mick McCarthy and Arthur Scargill – he’s a regular,” he says.

Now this page is always open to suggestions and Mr Rahman is selling himself rather well so we’ll put him down on the short list.

Star billing is all the Raj : 18 July 2007 By Derek Fish

The man divulging such information is Mohammed Rahman, who just happens to be the owner of Anglo-Indian restaurant Dil Raj, in the heart of Dodworth, near Barnsley. Now playing the fame game is all well and good – they’ve also had an actress from Emmerdale drop in and one of the cast from EastEnders – but it’s the customers who are the really important people.

Award Winning Dil Raj Restaurant – Tasteful Indian

I always get excited when I’m asked to review an indian restaurant. You may think i’m extremely biased because indian cuisine rates extremely high on my list of favourite foods, but you’d be quite wrong. What I expect from any good indian is something either very different or something very classic.

At the award winning Dil Raj Rrestaurant a very warm welcome and spacious comfortable surroundings are just a small part of the experience.

The restaurants interior is sleek with stylish modern furniture and clever soft lighting to complement some of the amazing art adorning the interior walls.

After receiving a super friendly welcome…
